Outperforms leading competitive products in independent aging study
U-C Coatings, LLC, a leading manufacturer of wood protection products, introduces its new SEAL-ONCE® NANO+POLY™ Premium Wood Sealer, an eco-friendly, ultra-low VOC sealer. The water based exterior finish works like a traditional oil based finish by penetrating deep into the wood to protect against water damage, mold and decay. SEAL-ONCE NANO+POLY combines proprietary nanotechnology with the strength of polyurethane to provide 360° of protection.
SEAL-ONCE NANO+POLY deeply penetrates the wood surface to create a flexible barrier by coating the wood fibers at the cellular level, while forming a breathable surface that allows the wood to expand and contract, and for water vapor to escape. The new formula can be applied wet on damp, resulting in a significant time and labor savings for contractors and end users. It also features enhanced UV and abrasion protection, extending the natural life of wood.
The new water based sealer inhibits rot, warping, cupping, mold, mildew and fungi growth, while protecting against UV damage and abrasion. SEAL-ONCE NANO+POLY cleans up with soap and water, has no odor and is safer for the environment with ultra-low VOCs.
In an independent study commissioned by U-C Coatings, SEAL-ONCE NANO+POLY outperformed two leading competitors’ water based wood sealers in the protection of Ipe and pressure treated pine. The QUV/Accelerated Weather Test (ASTM D4587) tested sample boards for a total of 1,000 hours and simulated a variety of damaging weather conditions such as heat, light and water.
At the end of the testing, the boards were evaluated for Fading/Darkening/General Appearance, Loss of Adhesion and Water Repellency. While both competitor’s products were found to have “severe darkening or yellowing” on both Ipe and pressure treated pine, SEAL-ONCE NANO+POLY did not exhibit any fading or darkening on Ipe and was rated “slight darkening” on pressure treated pine after 1,000 hours of testing. Additionally, SEAL-ONCE NANO+POLY did not exhibit any loss of adhesion and was rated “excellent” for water repellency.

SEAL-ONCE NANO+POLY can be used as either a clear formula or with SEAL-ONCE’s Semi-Transparent Stains. The wood sealer’s eco-friendly formula is water based and non-toxic so it will not harm pets, plants or people. It is recommended for use on wood decking, railings, wood siding, log homes and outdoor furniture.
